Quick connection checklist
- Use a USB cable that supports data, not only charging.
- Connect directly to the computer when possible.
- Unlock the iPhone or iPad and accept Trust This Computer.
- Enable Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode.
- Close extra copies of Wormhole or Device Manager.
- Open Wormhole, choose Refresh, and select the intended device.
Windows: the device is not listed
- Install or open Apple Devices.
- Confirm the device is visible in Apple Devices. If it is not, reconnect the cable and repeat the Trust prompt.
- Close and reopen Wormhole as a normal user, then choose Refresh.
- If the bundled CLI stopped unexpectedly, close Wormhole completely and reopen it so the child process can restart.
Wormhole does not require Run as administrator. Elevating one process can create a different session and does not repair a USB driver problem.
Mac: Device Manager is not available
- Install the current package from the official Manager page.
- Open Device Manager from Applications and confirm its menu bar item appears.
- Keep only one installed copy. Quit and remove older development or download-folder copies.
- Open the Mac App Store app again and refresh the device list.
Unexpected privacy prompt: the official Device Manager does not need broad access to other apps' data. If macOS asks for that access, choose Don't Allow, remove any older development copy, reinstall version 2.1.0 from this site, and contact support if the prompt returns.
Developer Mode is off or hidden
- Connect and unlock the device.
- Attempt the first location operation in Wormhole so it can reveal the Developer Mode setting when possible.
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode.
- Enable it and complete any restart and confirmation prompts on the device.
- Reconnect, refresh, and try Set Location again.
Set Location fails
- Confirm the correct device is selected and connected by USB rather than Wi-Fi.
- Keep the device unlocked during the first request.
- Check latitude and longitude ranges and use a period as the decimal separator.
- Stop any route or script before starting a different location operation.
Route calculation or playback fails
- Set both the start and destination before calculating.
- Keep both points inside the current country; cross-country automatic routes are unsupported.
- Move the endpoint farther away if the route is reported as too short.
- Calculate again after loading a favorite route.
- If playback stops, confirm the USB connection and start again from a newly calculated route.
A script reports an error or will not stop
- Call
MoveTo(latitude, longitude)before relative movement. - Check function spelling, brackets, quotes, and finite numeric arguments.
- Use Stop to cancel a long-running loop or movement sequence.
- If the page was closed, return to the script project and start a new run.
See the complete Wormhole Script reference for APIs and sandbox limits.
Restore does not complete
- Stop the current route or script.
- Reconnect and unlock the device if the USB connection was interrupted.
- Refresh the device list and select the device again.
- Return to Location and choose Restore.
- Wait for the success message before disconnecting.
